Description
For apt-file to work, the archive needs to provide Contents-ARCH.gz files (index of all packaged files). Compare:

http://archive.gnewsense.org/gnewsense/dists/deltad/ and ftp://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/dists/etch/

Is it possible to generate them?

$ sudo apt-file update Résolution de fr.archive.gnewsense.org… 199.232.41.84 Connexion vers fr.archive.gnewsense.org|199.232.41.84|:80… connecté. requête HTTP transmise, en attente de la réponse… 404 Not Found 23:30:25 ERREUR 404: Not Found.
