Description
In the “xine engine parameters” of the Kaffeine settings there is a decoder option which lists these two options;

“external.real_codecs_path path to RealPlayer codecs”

“external.win32_codecs_path path to Win32 codecs”

Status
WontFix
Importance

Target Release
none
Resolution
Marking WontFix for now - these are pretty deep in the options and won’t work without the user going out of their way to download and install non-free software. If we ever need to alter something else in Kaffeine we can change this. -bbrazil January 03, 2007, at 03:24 PM

Comments
Remove the option.

I know that this would mean editing the source code and repackaging, but I think it should be done in the spirit of gNewSense.

Can you indicate whether there is any functionality associated with these options? -bbrazil November 06, 2006, at 06:11 PM

It’s a box to place a path in to the win32 codecs (if you had them installed). I may be being picky here, but it does facilitate and encourage the easy use of non-free codecs.

Then again, theoretically these could be free software codecs, but in pactice they’re not. Andrew Wigglesworth? November 10, 2006, at 01:02 AM
