Would it be possible to have an approximate progress report on where you stand in removing unfree stuff?

I would like to move to gnewsense, exclusively based on freedom issues with my current distribution.

Regarding this comment, see:

Can we make this bug more specific? For example, do we mean software in gNS MAIN, or UNIVERSE, or perhaps all known software? If we do this, we can have a better shot at closing it.

Thanks,

Chris_debian

It referes to all software. karl.

Really? All gNS software, or ALL software? Is getting M$ to open Vista either wanted or likely?

Thanks,

Chris_debian

It refers to all software in the world. If you believe that freedom is a good goal, then striving for perfection on this front is the highest goal. Sure, it may never be 100% achieved, but we have achieved so much by dreaming big, why stop? - Edward

The use of Mono and C# is not in the spirit of a 100% free distribution. Stallman, on the FSF website, rightly said that free software shouldn’t depend on Mono or C# (26/06/2009). I fully agree with him and don’t understand why GNewSense includes programs in Mono, like Tomboy, that can easily be replaced by something else. - Sultan Rahi
